 The IGP was speaking at the inauguration of the news.police.gov.bd portal at the police headquarters.

Benazir Ahmed said that apart from the latest news from home and abroad, the achievements of various police units will be highlighted in the portal at the earliest. The news portal will have a separate reporting team, all of whom are members of the police.

In his inaugural address, the IGP said that initially the news portal was launched in Bengal. We will launch the English version later. Basically, the achievements of the police will be highlighted in this portal. In addition, there is a lot of positive news in Bangladesh every day. They will be highlighted here. News will be served following the Golden Rules of Journalism in Police News.

Benazir Ahmed said, in police news, mainly police members will do the news. As well as talking to different media, their news will be printed with credit subject to permission.

The IGP further said that Bangladesh Police believes in free flow of information. This news portal is part of this. When I was the DMP commissioner, the media center was set up for the first time as a government department. For the convenience of journalists, desktops have been provided and Wi-Fi lounges have been set up.

Besides, when I was the Director General (DG) of RAB, I set up a RAB media center in Media Para for the convenience of journalists. I have established DMP News. The portal has been visited by 160 million readers so far, 'the IGP added.
